Mistral AI's data center south of Paris: a turning point for Europe

Today marks a turning point with Mistral AI opening a data center south of Paris, operational before the end of June. We often talk about our dependence on the GAFAM companies. For once, here is proof that Europe can reverse the trend:
1️⃣ Unprecedented funding
€722M ($830M) raised solely through debt from 7 major banks.
2️⃣ The French anchor
This data center will be operational in Bruyères-le-Châtel, in Essonne, by the second quarter of 2026.
3️⃣ The ultimate arsenal
Massive purchase of 13,800 Nvidia GB300 chips (the very latest Grace Blackwell generation).
4️⃣ Raw power
44 megawatts dedicated to training their future models and to inference, on a French electricity grid that is largely decarbonized.
5️⃣ The bet on profitability
Raising debt means zero dilution for the founders. A strong sign of market confidence.
6️⃣ Cloud emancipation
A credible alternative to American "hyperscalers" (AWS, Azure...).
7️⃣ Sovereignty
The guarantee that innovation and sensitive data remain on European soil.
8️⃣ The sovereign asset
A vital infrastructure, designed to meet the strict standards of governments and sensitive activities.
9️⃣ Scaling up
This data center is just the first. The goal is to reach 200 MW in Europe by 2027. A second data center in Sweden has already been announced.
(I.e. The global alternative
Mistral no longer just offers models and their integration, but computing power.
And you, do you think owning your own infrastructure on French soil is good news? 👇
