In most large organizations, Claude exists even before it's deployed. Employees use it with a free or paid account to rewrite an email, analyze a spreadsheet, or write code. The tool is useful, but the company doesn't know what data passes through it or what comes out. Deploying Claude within the company means replacing this scattered usage with accounts linked to the organization, controlled settings, and deliberate uses.
Three decisions determine what happens next: the offering (Team or Enterprise), the configuration of the administration console, and the framework provided to employees. This kit addresses these decisions in order, along with the tools to document them for a steering committee.
1. What a Claude license covers in 2026
An enterprise license no longer simply grants access to a chat window. Depending on the offer and settings, the same seat unlocks several components, each requiring different precautions.
| Brick | What it allows | Who is concerned |
|---|---|---|
| Claude (web, desktop, mobile) | Writing and analyzing files, searching the web, working on shared projects | All employees |
| Cowork | Delegating a multi-stage task and producing a deliverable, now directly integrated into Claude | Support functions, managers, experts |
| Claude Design, Slides, Docs | Produce presentations, visuals and documents in accordance with the brand guidelines. | Communication, marketing, project managers |
| Claude Code | Write, test and maintain code | IT teams, data, business developers |
| Microsoft 365 and Chrome | Working in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and in the browser | Office users |
| Connectors and skills | Connecting Claude to internal tools and sharing reusable know-how | Administrators and contacts |
The more components the license opens, the more the configuration matters: a poorly configured connector or a public share left active weighs more heavily than a bad prompt.
2. Claude Team or Claude Enterprise: a comparison
Anthropic offers two plans for organizations. The individual plans (Free, Pro, Max) do not provide central administration, single sign-on, or enterprise-level data control: they are not suitable for deployment.
| Criterion | Claude Team | Claude Enterprise |
|---|---|---|
| Size | 2 to 150 members | From 20 seats |
| Retail price (October 2026, excluding VAT) | Standard Seat: $20 per month annually, $25 per month. Premium Seat (5 times the usage): $100 per year annually, $125 per month | $20 per seat per month with an annual commitment, plus usage at the API rate. |
| Identity | SSO and domain verification | SSO, domain capture, SCIM and JIT provisioning |
| Rights | Standard roles | Customized roles by group, specific rights by function and by budget |
| Traceability | Usage statistics | Audit logs, Compliance API, OpenTelemetry |
| Data | No training on your default content | Likewise, plus a customized retention period and encryption keys managed by the client. |
| Expert Network | No | List of allowed IP addresses, blocking of personal accounts on the network |
| Payment | Credit card | Card or bank transfer, invoice with accompanying documents, AWS Marketplace |
Five questions almost always determine the best option: the number of users after 18 months (Team is capped at 150), the CISO's requirement for audit logs, automatic provisioning from the directory, control over the data retention period requested by the DPO, and the blocking of personal accounts. A single positive answer necessitates Enterprise. Team remains a good choice for a pilot program with a few dozen users. Be aware of Enterprise's pricing model: the initial plan is inexpensive, but usage is additional; the "Choose your plan" tab in the spreadsheet simulates the annual cost of both options based on your user profiles.
3. Security, data and compliance
On both Team and Enterprise, the exchanged content is not used to train default models, and Anthropic's data processing agreement, integrated into the commercial terms, includes standard contractual clauses for transfers outside the Union. However, three points require analysis by your DPO:
- The location of the treatments As of October 2026, Claude's use by employees does not offer guaranteed hosting within the European Union. Enterprise offers a limited inference option in the United States, which regulates the transfer but does not prevent it. Have the offer's status confirmed in writing at the time of signing.
- Conservation By default, conversations and projects are retained indefinitely. On Enterprise, the organization owner can set a retention period, with a minimum of 30 days; some components are not covered.
- The social and regulatory framework The obligation to control AI, as stipulated in Article 4 of the AI Act since February 2, 2025, requires an impact assessment if risky processing is envisaged, and consultation with the Works Council (CSE) on the introduction of any new technology (Article L2312-8 of the French Labor Code). The Créteil Judicial Court suspended AI tools deployed without this consultation in July 2025.
4. Configure the console in five steps
- Role Governance : a primary owner in the form of a service account, two or three owners at most, lead administrators and, on Enterprise, custom roles modeled on directory groups.
- Identity : domain verified, SSO, then on Enterprise domain capture to link existing accounts and SCIM provisioning.
- Functions and sharing : choose the building blocks open to the pilot, disable public projects and sharing via public link, write the organizational instructions, deploy the first skills.
- Connectors They respect the existing permissions in the source tool, so overly broad SharePoint permissions become visible. Assess the permissions, then open in read-only mode first.
- Security and spending : spending limits, and on Enterprise audit logs connected to the SIEM, retention period, filtering by IP address.
The "Checklist settings" tab of the workbook includes these settings in 30 points, with responsible party, deadline, status and progress rate.
5. Usage rules and data matrix
A charter that is too long is not read. The format that works fits on one page and is based on a matrix: when faced with a document, each collaborator knows whether they can give it to Claude.
| Level | Examples | In Claude |
|---|---|---|
| Public | Press releases, published offers, product documentation | Authorized |
| Internal | Memos, procedures, daily reports | Allowed within the organization's space |
| Confidential | Customer data, contracts, unpublished figures | Subject to conditions: validated connector, restricted access project, no public sharing |
| Secret or regulated | Health data, sensitive HR data, trade secrets | Prohibited, except in a dedicated environment validated by security. |
The kit adds six simple rules: remain responsible for what you produce, respect the matrix, check facts and figures, report the use of AI when it has an external reach or an impact on a person, do not use a personal account, share what works.
6. The 90-day plan
| Period | The goal | Key deliverables |
|---|---|---|
| D-30 to D-0: prepare | Making deployment possible | Offer selected, DPA and analyses validated, CSE consulted, console configured, charter published, pilots appointed |
| Day 0 to Day 30: piloting | Prove the value in 3 to 5 use cases | Licenses open to 30 to 100 people, training, starting point |
| Days 30 to 60: adjust | Correct and equip | Enhanced instructions and skills, new connectors, mid-term review |
| Days 60 to 90: Decide | Prepare for generalization | Figures, final seat allocation and number, waves, training plan |
The monitoring is based on six indicators: activation rate, weekly active users, documented use cases, reported time saved, cost per active user, and incidents. The spreadsheet calculates these monthly and converts the time saved into value, taking into account the portion actually reallocated.
7. What the kit contains
The Word document has 16 pages in 8 chapters: why frame the deployment; choosing the offer, Team or Enterprise; security, data and compliance; setting up the organization; writing the rules of use; choosing the first use cases, with fifteen proven cases in large organizations and the boundary with Microsoft 365 Copilot; training and support; managing the first 90 days; the sources.
The Excel workbook "Tools of the Deploy Claude in Enterprise Kit" contains seven tools: the choice of offer, which recommends Team or Enterprise and simulates the annual cost according to three user profiles; the 30-point configuration checklist with progress rate; the data matrix to adapt; the register of use cases with weighted score and priority; the 90-day plan whose dates are recalculated from the launch date; the month-by-month adoption dashboard; the calculation of time saved and return on investment.

8. Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Claude Team and Claude Enterprise?
Team is designed for teams of 2 to 150 members, with SSO, central administration, and usage statistics. Enterprise, for teams of 20 seats or more, adds SCIM provisioning, custom roles, audit logs, a Compliance API, custom retention periods, and network control. In large organizations, Enterprise is almost always the preferred option, while Team is primarily used by pilot teams.
How much does Claude Enterprise cost?
In October 2026, Anthropic advertises a price of $20 per seat per month (excluding tax) for an annual commitment, with a minimum of 20 seats, plus usage billed at the API rate. The actual cost therefore depends on usage: request a detailed estimate and set spending limits from day one.
Does Claude use company data for training?
No, by default: on Team and Enterprise plans, Anthropic does not train its models on the exchanged content. The data processing agreement is integrated into the commercial terms and includes the European standard contractual clauses.
Is Claude Enterprise's data hosted in Europe?
As of October 2026, the Claude service for employees does not offer guaranteed hosting within the European Union. Data processing located in Europe is routed through the API on Amazon Bedrock or Google Cloud, in European regions. Confirm the status of this offer with Anthropic at the time of signing.
Should the Works Council be consulted before deploying Claude?
Yes, in most cases: the introduction of a new technology requires information and consultation with the Works Council (article L2312-8 of the French Labor Code), and a court has already suspended AI tools deployed without this consultation. Plan ahead for this timeline, as it often determines the date of widespread implementation.
Can Claude and Microsoft 365 Copilot be used in the same organization?
Yes, and it's common. Copilot is closely linked to each user's Microsoft 365 data; Claude stands out for its multi-stage delegated work, deliverable production, code development, and in-depth analysis. The toolkit offers a simple rule to help users choose.
Is the kit free?
Yes. The Word document and Excel workbook are free, in exchange for a professional email address which will only be used to send you the download link. No unsolicited emails.
