Copilot Pro, Copilot Premium, Microsoft 365 Premium: differences and prices (2026)
Article published on October 24, 2026, compiled from the pricing pages of microsoft.com/fr-fr, the Microsoft Store France, and official Microsoft documentation consulted that day. Prices for consumer offers include all taxes; prices for business offers exclude taxes.
Copilot Pro no longer exists: Microsoft stopped selling it in the fall of 2025 and replaced it with Microsoft 365 Premium, at €22 per month or €219 per year. And "Copilot Premium" isn't a separate purchase: it's the label displayed under the names of employees with a Microsoft 365 Copilot professional license, sold for €26,00 excluding VAT per user per month. Between offers for individuals, offers for businesses, and names that change every six months, it's complete confusion. This article clarifies each name, with prices in France as of October 24, 2026, and then helps you choose.
The essentials in five lines
- Copilot Pro: the old general public subscription at €22 per month, no longer sold since October 2025 and discontinued on August 1, 2026.
- Microsoft 365 Premium: its replacement for individuals, which combines Office, 1TB of storage and extended use of Copilot, at €22 per month or €219 per year.
- Copilot Premium: the nickname of the Microsoft 365 Copilot professional license, taken from the label "M365 Copilot (Premium)".
- Microsoft 365 Copilot: The pro license, at €26,00 excluding VAT per month for large companies and €18.20 excluding VAT for the Business offer, for up to 300 users.
- Copilot Chat: the version included at no extra cost in Microsoft 365 for business accounts.

Beware of the "Pro" word trap: Copilot Pro, the old subscription, has nothing to do with Microsoft 365 Pro, the new consumer offering launched at the end of September 2026. And on some professional accounts, Microsoft also documents a "Microsoft 365 Copilot (Pro)" label.
Copilot Pro: what has become of it
Launched in early 2024, Copilot Pro cost €22 per month in France. It provided priority access to templates and Copilot within Office applications for Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscribers. Microsoft discontinued its sale on October 1, 2025, with the launch of Microsoft 365 Premium. Existing subscribers were able to keep it until the end of support on August 1, 2026; the official website now indicates that it is no longer available for purchase. They were not automatically upgraded: Microsoft offered them Microsoft 365 Premium with a prorated credit.
If you are looking for today "the equivalent of Copilot Pro", it is Microsoft 365 Premium, at the same monthly price, with Office and storage included.
Offers for individuals: what each one brings to Copilot
Since 2025, all Microsoft 365 consumer plans, except Basic, include Copilot. The difference between plans lies in the usage level and access to advanced agents. Microsoft no longer publishes the number of AI credits: its support page from October 8, 2026, only states that quotas "depend on your plan" and "may change."
| Copilot function | Free | Personal and Family | Premium | Pro |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Conversation, in-depth reasoning, Pages | Limit | Extended | Extended | Extended |
| Copilot in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote | No | Yes, sole holder | Yes | Yes |
| Image generation, audio summary | Limit | Standard | Extended | Extended |
| Voice and vision | Limit | Standard | Superior | The highest |
| Researcher, Analyst Cowork in preview | No | No | Yes | Yes |
| Priority access during peak hours | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Three important points to note. In Microsoft 365 Family, only the account holder has Copilot in the apps; other household members only have the chat function. In Excel, Copilot assumes automatic saving to OneDrive. Finally, Cowork The consumer version is only available in the United States and Canada; in France, Premium primarily offers Researcher and Analyst features, as well as higher storage limits. Microsoft 365 Basic, the storage-only offering, does not include AI features.

"Copilot Premium": where does this name come from?
Since April 2026, Microsoft has displayed a label under each employee's name in the Copilot application: "Copilot Chat (Basic)" without a license, and "M365 Copilot (Premium)" with a license. Many users, and many IT departments, have therefore adopted the practice of referring to the Microsoft 365 Copilot license as "Copilot Premium." Both terms refer to the same thing.
The risk of confusion is real, since Microsoft 365 Premium is also the name of a consumer offering. Therefore, in a quote, purchase request, or tender, always write "Microsoft 365 Copilot." And do not use Microsoft 365 Premium to equip employees: it's a personal subscription, without corporate data protection or administrator controls.
Offers for businesses and their prices
| It offers | Price excluding taxes |
|---|---|
| Copilot Chat | Included in eligible Microsoft 365 subscriptions |
| Microsoft 365 Copilot (large enterprise) | €26,00 per user per month, annual commitment |
| Microsoft 365 Copilot Business (up to 300 users) | €18.20 per month with an annual commitment, €21,84 with monthly payment |
| Business promotion valid until December 31, 2026 | €15,60 per month for the first year, annual commitment |
| Microsoft 365 Business Standard + Copilot | €20,36 per month annually, €24,43 per month |
| Microsoft 365 Business Premium + Copilot | €27,73 per month annually, €33,28 per month |
| Copilot Credits (agents, Coworkconnectors) | $0.01 per credit per use, or 25,000 credits for $200 per month per tenant |
Two points to note about these prices. First, the license doesn't cover everything: Copilot Cowork And some agents use additional Copilot Credits. A one-month free trial is available for Business plans (Copilot Business alone, or with Business Standard or Business Premium), which requires a credit card and automatically converts to a paid subscription. For education, Copilot Chat is included for staff and students, and Microsoft offers an academic rate for Microsoft 365 Copilot.
Two changes announced by Microsoft to administrators in October 2026 are worth noting, according to messages from the message center relayed by the specialized press: existing subscriptions will be marked "(add-on)" without a price change, and starting December 1, 2026, a Copilot license can be purchased without a basic Microsoft 365 subscription. Furthermore, usage-based billing is enabled by default for new Copilot Business purchases, with a limit of 4,000 credits per user per month.
What the license actually adds to Copilot Chat, function by function, is detailed in our comparison. Copilot Chat or Microsoft 365 Copilot.
How much does Copilot cost a team: three examples with figures
Prices per user per month give a misleading impression of the budget. Here are three annual calculations, excluding taxes, based on the public rates of October 24, 2026, and excluding negotiated discounts.
| Situation | Choice | Annual cost excluding VAT |
|---|---|---|
| SME with 50 employees | Copilot Chat for everyone, 10 Copilot Business licenses with an annual commitment | €2,184 (€1,872 with the first-year promotion) |
| SME with 50 employees | Copilot Business license for the 50 | €10,920 |
| Large organization with 1,000 employees | Copilot Chat for everyone, 200 Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses | €62,400 |
| Large organization with 1,000 employees | Microsoft 365 Copilot license for the first 1,000 | €312,000 |
To these amounts are added, where applicable, the Copilot Credits consumed by Cowork and by agents used without a license. Microsoft gives the example of 100 agent users consuming approximately 4,800 credits per day, or nearly $48. The guide Copilot Studio: Create your first agent details what is included and what is charged.
Which offer should I choose?
| Your situation | Our recommendation |
|---|---|
| Occasional personal use | Free copilot |
| For personal use, with Word and Excel at home | Microsoft 365 Personal or Family |
| Individual or freelancer who wants to research and has high ceilings | Microsoft 365 Premium |
| Former Copilot Pro subscriber | Microsoft 365 Premium, its direct replacement |
| Employee of a company equipped with Microsoft 365 | Copilot Chat is already included; request a license if you primarily work in Outlook, Teams, and documents. |
| SMEs with fewer than 300 employees | Copilot Chat for everyone, then Copilot Business for the most frequent users, possibly after a one-month trial. |
| Large organization | Copilot Chat for everyone, Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses allocated based on measured usage |
An unused license costs €312 excluding VAT per year per user in the enterprise offer. This is why we recommend measuring actual usage before extending licenses, and training teams to ensure this usage occurs: this is the purpose of our Copilot training courses for businessesIn webinars or workshops, you can practice using Copilot Chat and the license on your own documents. To see how the license changes your daily experience, our step-by-step guides cover... Excel, Word, Power point, Outlook, teams et Cowork.
F.A.Q
Does Copilot Pro still exist?
No. It has not been sold since October 1, 2025 and its support ended on August 1, 2026. Its replacement is Microsoft 365 Premium, at €22 per month or €219 per year.
Are Copilot Premium and Microsoft 365 Copilot the same thing?
Yes. "Copilot Premium" comes from the "M365 Copilot (Premium)" label displayed to employees who have a Microsoft 365 Copilot license. It's not a marketing name: in a quote, write Microsoft 365 Copilot.
What is the price of Copilot Premium?
The Microsoft 365 Copilot license costs €26,00 excluding VAT per user per month in the large enterprise offer with annual commitment, and €18.20 excluding VAT in the Business offer for organizations with up to 300 users (€15,60 for the first year until December 31, 2026).
Can Microsoft 365 Premium be used for work?
For a freelancer, yes. For company employees, it's not suitable: the subscription is linked to a personal account, without protection of company data, without administrator control, and without access to the organization's data. The Microsoft 365 Copilot license is designed for that.
Does Microsoft 365 Personal include Copilot?
Yes, since 2025: Copilot in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote, with capped usage. Microsoft no longer publishes the number of AI credits included. Premium and Pro offer higher limits and access to Researcher and Analyst.
Do we need to purchase a license for the entire company?
Rarely. Most organizations start with Copilot Chat for everyone, included in Microsoft 365, then assign licenses to teams with demonstrated daily usage. The administrator assigns it user by user.
